Cancer Research UK

Our vision at Cancer Research UK is to bring forward the day that all cancers are cured. We are the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and we are the only charity fighting all 200 different types of cancer; from breast and lung, to pancreatic and children’s cancers.

It’s a sad statistic, but more than 360,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. However, thanks to research, we’ve seen survival rates double in the last 40 years and we won’t stop until cancer is beaten. From finding new ways to prevent cancer, to monitoring if treatments are working, we’re tackling cancer from every angle.

We don’t receive any Government funding for our life-saving research, so we rely on every pound raised by swimmers like you to achieve our ambition of 3 in 4 people surviving the disease by 2034.

In this difficult, unsettling time, we’re working to provide people affected by cancer with the support and information they need.

Our nurses’ helpline, Cancer Chat forum, information pages and coronavirus blog post are keeping abreast of the Covid-19 guidance from Public Health England, National Health Service England and the devolved bodies.

We’re in close communication with the NHS to ensure that urgent cancer care can continue, and that trusts are following NHS guidance on how to support cancer patients during this global pandemic.

Thank you for jumping in at the deep end to beat cancer sooner.
